Introduction to J & E SOZIO
Established in 1757 in Grasse, South of France, J & E SOZIO, which presently operates in association with DESCOLLONGES, has become in a matter of a few years one of the most successful firms in the field of fragrance compositions.
Since 1979 J & E SOZIO has been affilliated with the PROTEX INTERNATIONAL Group, one of the European leaders of speciality chemicals, and the company benefits from the numerous innovations and licences of the Group, and its international network.
- 1757. Creation of the first extraction unit in Grasse.
- 1910. Joseph SOZIO and his son Ernest, set up the first modern extraction unit.
- 1979. PROTEX INTERNATIONAL acquired J & E SOZIO and brought its research capabilities and international network to the firm .
- 1981. Acquisition of DESCOLLONGES perfumes by the PROTEX INTERNATIONAL Group.
- 1985. Creation of the subsidiary J & E SOZIO Inc. in Edison, New Jersey, USA.
- 1998. J & E SOZIO and DESCOLLONGES join together.

Perfumery, research and development
The Perfumery Research and Development laboratories are situated at Levallois-Perret in France and at Edison, New Jersey in the United States. Our international teams include perfumers and researchers from Europe, America and Asia, which enable J& E SOZIO to :
- respond appropriately at local or worldwide levels to the requirements of our international customers.
- keep a close watch on technological and olfactory developments throughout the world, and to anticipate and monitor, in real-time, trends in the main markets.
Each year, J & E SOZIO devotes over 10% of its turnover to Research, which enables the firm to invest heavily in the most up-to-date equipment and to maintain an effective international database.
Finally J & E SOZIO benefits from the synergy which exists between the Laboratories of the PROTEX INTERNATIONAL Group in the following particularly innovative fields :
